Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have actually been seized by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A guy was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines through the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: "It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

"These types of items being sold, generally online, have undergone no quality assurance and there can be no warranty about their security.

"You just do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More importantly, you do not know the result drugs like this might have on your health."
